「ぐぐたす」とは、検索サイトのグーグルが運営するSNS「Google+」（グーグルプラス）の略称。正式なサービス名ではなく、一部の48グループメンバー及びファンがこの名称を使っている。「ぐぐ」は「グーグル」、「たす」は「プラス」から。
概要
- 48グループはグーグル社と業務提携し、姉妹グループを含めたグループ全体で13歳以上のメンバー200人以上が利用している。
- 開始時に運営側が「メンバーの投稿内容はチェックしない」ことを明言している。秋元康「私も正直どうなるか分からない。メンバーの発言は、どこかで大人がチェックするものだったが、今後はメンバーを信じてやってみます。言葉足らずだったり、誤解されることもリアルなこと。心配はあるが、親として独り立ちさせたい」[1]
- 「メンバーの本音が聞ける」「リアルタイム性がある」などのメリットがある反面、ノーチェックであるため、さまざまなトラブルも多い。

2011年
- 12月8日、提携記者会見。18歳以上のメンバーの個人アカウントと、13歳～17歳のメンバーの共有アカウントを開設（12歳以下は不参加）。

2012年
- 1月15日、松井咲子黒歴史騒動。

運営による検閲・投稿制限問題
前述の通り、「メンバーの投稿内容はチェックしない」としていたが、2012年1月、実際には一部のグループの運営により検閲や時間帯による投稿制限が行われていたことが発覚。秋元康により、改めて「検閲・制限なし」を運営側に厳命した。経緯については/ノートを参照。

部活動
Google+上のやり取りから誕生したメンバーによる「劇場公演を頑張った上での放課後の活動」[2]。2012年1月、秋元康の「AKB画伯を集めて、個展をやろう」発言[3]を発端として実際に展覧会開催を目標とした美術部が創部され、部長に指名された片山陽加がGoogle+上で部員を募集した事が始まり。
3月には美術部に続く演劇部、料理部、軽音楽部、文芸部の部員募集が開始された。それに伴い、部活の掛け持ちは不可[2]、転部は可能といったルールが作られたが、結果、美術部から転部する者が続出する事態となった。しかし部員募集の後、Google+上でこれらの部活動が話題となる機会は減っていき、現在まで沈黙状態となっている。
また、同時期に「AKB自動車部」の番組企画が持ち上がり、番組の為に自動車部が作られている。この部活のみ例外的に兼任が可能とされた[4]。
美術部
片山陽加が部長となり、展覧会開催を目標に創部されたAKB48初の部活動[5]。秋元康が副学長を努める京都造形芸術大学の教授による指導を受け、その様子が週刊AKBで放送されるなどした。1月 - 2月に行われた部員募集では50名が集まったが[6]、転部などでメンバーが減り、最終的には35名の部員により展覧会が開催された。
